Earnings season / earnings report
Earnings season is the weeks after each quarter ends when most US companies report, starting with the big banks around mid-January, April, July and October. Most results land after the 1:30 AM IST close into a thin book, and the guide, not the quarter, moves the stock. PepsiCo usually writes the opening sentence, and the banks report next.
